Football Recap: Broncos Edge Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Battle
In a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Denver Broncos clinched a 13-11 victory over the struggling New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning decisive three-pointer to secure the hard-fought win.
Dominant Performance Wins Game
Even with registering nine sacks against Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 after conceding a two-point play in the third quarter. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce just 82 offensive yards throughout the contest.
Nix, who went 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's 27-yard kick with just over five minutes remaining.
Record Struggles for Jets Attack
Despite their dismal offensive display, the Jets maintained possession with a opportunity to drive for a possible victory. However Fields was tackled on fourth down from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it rather than sending out kicker Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.
Fields had difficulties throughout, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York ended up with negative ten net yards passing, the fewest in any game since 1998.
"The aerial attack was completely absent," the coach stated following the game.
