Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Arrives, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Iconic Releases
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some familiar faces, including the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will see the return of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut around the time of the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases officially announced for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
